Snacktime just got a serious upgrade with my easy, healthy recipe for Greek Yogurt Fruit Dip! This deliciously creamy, protein-packed bowl of sweet goodness is made in 5 minutes using just 3 basic ingredients and dozens of ways to customize.

If I had to identify my eating style, I’d definitely fall into the realm of a “grazer.” From the time I hop out of bed until I return in the evening, more often than not I’ll be snacking on something. (Don’t judge! Science has shown that eating multiple small meals a day can help stabilize blood sugar, increase satiety, and increase metabolism.)

While I love reaching for salty treats like an air fryer tortilla pizza or buffalo chicken flatbread,  at times, my sweet tooth can be loud and demanding. When that’s the case, I try to hold off on dessert till after dinner and reach for fruit instead. After all, strawberry cottage cheese ice cream, berry protein popsicles, and fruit-topped oat milk chia pudding are plenty indulgent!

My recipe for fruit dip with greek yogurt is simply my newest healthy sweet treat obsession. Unlike those other tasty bites, this easy snack requires zero forethought—no baking, refrigeration, or freezing time needed! Just mix up the 3 ingredient vanilla yogurt dip, bust out your favorite fruits, and go to town!

Why You’ll Love This Greek Yogurt Dip For Fruit

  • Versatile & Customizable – Mix up a batch for friends to snack on, or hoard the whole bowl for yourself—guilt-free! Better yet, you can tweak it to fit your preferences. Add protein, swap the sweetener, give it texture with fun add-ins… There are literally dozens of ways for you to make it your own! Read on below for lots of inspo. 😉
  • Delightfully Different – Don’t get me wrong—I love me a bowl of yogurt or cottage cheese with fruit. But, to be totally honest, dipping is more fun than eating with a spoon! I also find that eating with my hands helps slow me down so I enjoy each bite even more.

Nutritional Deep Dive

I’m not an RDN or nutritional guru, but fitness and food are my main passions. Since putting myself on a non-restrictive but high-protein and high-fiber diet has made a huge difference in how I feel—I’m more energetic, can work out harder, and I’m functioning better overall. Pairing Greek yogurt with fruit is one of the simplest, tastiest ways to get a high dose of both!

In fact, each serving of this healthy greek yogurt dip clocks a whopping 24 grams of protein with only 190 calories. And fruit is naturally high in fiber! As if that weren’t enough to love, with each bite you’re getting all kinds of other goodies. In addition to protein, Greek yogurt is an excellent source of gut-friendly probiotics and bone-building calcium.

Honey is no slouch, either. While it brings a lovely floral sweetness to the table, it also contains various antioxidants as well as antibacterial and antifungal properties. When paired with a colorful rainbow of fruits, this easy fruit yogurt dip is a snack that just won’t quit. Enjoy it, guilt-free!

Ingredient Spotlight! Greek yogurt is a true protein powerhouse, offering more than twice the protein of regular yogurt on average. Aside from cottage cheese, it is probably my favorite protein source to have on hand! PRO TIP: Generally speaking, the lower the fat content in your greek yogurt, the higher the protein will be.

Ingredients & Substitutions

As promised, you only need 3 measly ingredients to make my easy yogurt fruit dip. Here’s what to grab:

  • Greek Yogurt – I use Fage nonfat 0% Greek yogurt, but you’re welcome to use any plain Greek yogurt you prefer! Icelandic Skyr is also an excellent choice.
  • Honey – This nearly unrefined sweetener has a lower glycemic index score than white sugar and adds a certain je ne sais quois to the overall flavor of this dip. If possible, opt for local honey—it tends to have a more nuanced flavor than mass-produced brands. Alternatively, swap in another liquid sweetener—neutrally flavored agave or rich maple syrup are two of my favorites, and they have an even lower GI than honey!
  • Vanilla Extract – This ingredient is nearly ubiquitous in the dessert world for good reason. It adds a lovely aromatic warmth and sweetness I find intoxicating. Feel free to use an equal amount of vanilla paste or powder, or use half as much ground vanilla bean.

How To Make Greek Yogurt Fruit Dip

This yogurt fruit dip recipe is so simple, I have a feeling you’ll be able to memorize it after the first try. Here’s what to do:

Step 1: Mix. Add the greek yogurt, honey, and vanilla extract to a small mixing bowl. Combine evenly.

Step 2: Garnish. Transfer the mixture to a serving bowl and top with an extra drizzle of honey.

Step 3: Serve & Enjoy! Pair with fresh berries, apple slices, kiwi slices, melon cubes, or any other fruits and snacks that you’d like to dip.

Optional Variations

Wanna shake things up? I’ve gotchu. Here are some of my favorite ways to customize this Greek yogurt fruit dip recipe:

  • Sugar-Free – If you are avoiding added sugars, try using a natural sweetener like stevia or monkfruit. Alternatively, use refined sugar-free chia jam or the fruit preserves of your choice!
  • Dairy-Free – Greek yogurt is lower in lactose than regular sugar, so if you’re just *sensitive* and not intolerant, you might be fine. You can also try using yogurt made with A2 milk or one without lactose (e.g. Fage BestSelf). Alternatively, opt for a plant-based version—Kite Hill has the highest protein percentage I’ve found.
  • Vegan – Opt for a high-protein dairy-free yogurt alternative and swap in the vegan sweetener of your choice.
  • Richer – Consider using 1%, 2%, or full-fat greek yogurt for a creamier mouthfeel. While you’ll lose a couple of grams of protein, the added fat can also assist with satiety.
  • Cheesecake vibes – Instead of making this recipe for fruit dip with yogurt, try making a blended cottage cheese dip instead! Don’t think cottage cheese can go sweet? My healthy ice cream and frozen fruit bark beg to differ.
  • Mix-Ins – There are tons of ways for you to add your own twist to this healthy yogurt fruit dip. Here are just a few ideas to get you started:
    • Swap or add more flavor extractives. Maple pairs well with apples and pears, lemon works nearly universally. You could even go “out there” with unconventional flavors like cake batter! Just start slow—most are more potent than vanilla.
    • Powder power. Consider adding flavored protein powder or powdered peanut butter for an added boost of protein and yumminess.
    • Seed savvy. If you’d like a mini tapioca vibe, try stirring in some chia seeds and letting them soak for about an hour before diving in.
    • Get textural. Mini chocolate chips, granola, or toasted chopped nuts all add interest.
    • Freshen it up. Add some citrus zest or chopped mint for a fancy twist.
    • Garnish for gold. Adding an extra drizzle of honey is great, but don’t feel limited. Try adding a sprinkle of your favorite warming spices (think cinnamon, pumpkin pie, or chai spice)  and/or toasty wheat germ for added complexity.

Expert Tips

  • Sweeten to Taste. Everyone’s palates are different, so tweak the ratio of yogurt to honey to suit your own. Too sweet? Just add more yogurt! Too tangy? Add another drizzle.
  • Any Yogurt Can Be Greek Yogurt. If you accidentally bought plain regular yogurt instead of Greek yogurt, don’t despair. Line a fine mesh strainer with a thin clean kitchen towel, cheesecloth, or sturdy paper towels and place it over a bowl. Spoon your plain yogurt in (about 1.25-1.5 cups for each cup of Greek yogurt), cover it, and pop the whole thing in the fridge. About 12 hours later, the whey should’ve strained out, leaving you with perfectly thick and creamy Greek-style yogurt. 🪄🐇 🎩 (Psssst! Don’t toss the whey. It’s excellent for adding protein to smoothies or for marinating meat.)
  • Smart Pairings. To get a good mix of macros, make sure you’re eating plenty of fiber. Apples, pears, and fresh berries are some of the best options!
  • Batch It, Boo. I’ve written this recipe for just a single meal, or 4 appetizer-sized portions. Feel free to double, triple, quadruple, or otherwise increase the amount as needed!

Serving Suggestions

While “fruit” might be in the name, don’t feel limited to basics like sliced apples. This recipe for fruit dip with yogurt plays nicely with almost everyone! Here are some fun ways to gussy up your bowl:

  • Cooked Fruit. For more of a warm pie a la mode vibe, top air fryer apples, air fryer peaches, or sautéed bananas with a dollop of this honey yogurt dip. For pie crust vibes, try crumbling some graham crackers or shortbread on top. If you (or your kiddo!) had a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day, I can basically guarantee this spread will turn that frown upside down in no time flat.
  • Fill ‘Er Up. Turn this dip into a snack on the go by using it to fill granola cups, then top with some fresh berries and banana slices. Yum!
  • Très Parfait. If you’ve got dessert on the brain, try layering dollops of this fruit yogurt dip in a parfait glass with fresh fruit, jam, and granola or honey graham cereal. As the French would say, it’s parfait!
  • Daring Dippers. Sure, fruit is awesome for dipping. But you know what else is awesome? Graham crackers, cinnamon sugar pretzels, animal crackers, and oatmeal chocolate chunk cookie bars. Make sure to offer a mix of both to impress your guests!
  • Bowl Over. While it’s designed as a dip, this thick sweetened yogurt can just as easily be eaten with a spoon. Turn it into a full-blown breakfast bowl by topping with nuts, granola, and fresh or frozen fruit!

Storage Instructions

I have a feeling you’ll have zero problem making your way through the entire bowl of this Greek yogurt apple dip, but just in case:

  • Leftovers will keep well in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
  • I don’t recommend storing the yogurt fruit dip in the freezer; it’ll have a tendency to separate and become kinda grainy when it thaws.

FAQs

What kind of yogurt should I use? Do I need to use greek yogurt?

Honey and vanilla will make any variety of plain yogurt taste good, but for the best dip-ability, I recommend using thick options like Greek yogurt or Skyr. Labneh also works! If you only have regular yogurt, hop back up to my expert tips section for instructions on how to make it like Greek yogurt. Also, I recommend starting with unsweetened, unflavored yogurt—this will help you keep the added sugars to a minimum.

What fruit goes well with greek yogurt?

I think it’d be easier to list what doesn’t go with Greek yogurt, since most any fruits do. The only one’s I’d avoid are high-acid fruits like citrus or pineapple, which can make it curdle. Otherwise, apples, pears, any type of berry, figs, peaches/nectarines, plums, or apricots are all great!

Is greek yogurt dip healthy?

It depends on your definition of healthy and your recipe. This particular recipe boasts 24 grams of protein, zero fat, 190 calories, and 26 grams of carbs—perfectly snackworthy in my book!

How long does greek yogurt dip last?

Since yogurt is cultured, it generally has a pretty long shelf life. Honey’s antifungal properties also help prevent spoilage. That said, I try to eat any leftovers within 7 days just to be safe.
