Maple Brown Sugar Overnight Oats
Maple Brown Sugar Overnight Oats taste just like the classic Quaker instant oat packet, but better! Made with greek yogurt, old fashioned oats, pure maple syrup, and light brown sugar … these quick, simple, and healthy overnight oats are deliciously creamy. Place in jars, top with banana, and enjoy this perfect grab & go breakfast recipe!
Are these overnight oats healthy?
I am not a nutritionist or dietician, but in my opinion any oatmeal recipe is a healthy breakfast! So yes, Maple Brown Sugar Overnight Oats are a great choice.
These simple overnight oats are packed with protein from the greek yogurt and complex carbs from the oats. The oats themselves are whole grains and a great source of vitamins, minerals, & fiber too. Plus when you add fresh fruit and healthy fat sources (like nuts) on top of this oatmeal, it will keep you full for hours!

Ingredients & Substitutions
Maple overnight oats only require 6 simple ingredients. Talk about an easy breakfast!
Here’s the exact list you’ll need to grab from the grocery store:
- Greek Yogurt: Greek yogurt is the base of this overnight oats recipe! It adds protein and a deliciously creamy texture. You’ll need 1 cup plain greek yogurt!
- Almond Milk: The choice of liquid in this recipe is almond milk. Add 1 1/4 cup! You could alternatively use any type of milk you enjoy. Perhaps oat milk, soy milk, coconut milk, or good old dairy-filled regular milk.
- Oats: Oats! The most important ingredient in overnight oats. 2 cups is the perfect amount! Rolled oats, quick oats, or old-fashioned oats should all work.
- Light Brown Sugar: I love the rich, deep flavor that light brown sugar gives these simple oats. Add 3 tbsp! You could opt for dark brown sugar for an even stronger flavor.
- Pure Maple Syrup: To get that classic Quaker instant oat packet flavor, you’ll also need pure maple syrup in this recipe! 2 tbsp to be exact.
- Vanilla Extract: 1 tsp of vanilla extract adds the perfect flavor here.
- Salt: Lastly, add a sprinkle of salt to these oats. However much tastes good to you!
How To Make Brown Sugar Overnight Oats
In my opinion, overnight oats are the easiest breakfast recipe you could ever make! You simply mix all the ingredients together and place in the fridge overnight to soak. Or just for a few hours!
And that’s all you need to prepare a healthy, delicious, and satisfying breakfast for the entire week.
Step 1: Combine wet ingredients. In a large mixing bowl combine the yogurt, almond milk, light brown sugar, maple syrup, and vanilla extract until smooth. I recommend using a whisk!
Step 2: Add dry ingredients. Next add in the oats and a sprinkle of salt. Combine evenly.
Step 3: Soak overnight. Place in an airtight container in the fridge overnight or at least for a few hours.
Step 4: Serve & enjoy! When serving, add some toppings (fruit, nuts, peanut butter, almond butter etc.) and enjoy!
Can I meal prep this Brown Sugar Oatmeal?
Yes, overnight oatmeal is always the perfect meal prep breakfast recipe. Especially these maple and brown sugar overnight oats.
All you have to do is prepare the oats at the beginning of the week and keep in the fridge. Then you will have a satisfying, healthy, and delicious breakfast ready to go for the week ahead! It is a busy morning blessing.
You could prepare this recipe in a large container and simply add to your bowl each morning, but I love to take things an extra step and separate into jars! It’s cute, functional, and makes this simple meal prep recipe even more of a grab & go friendly breakfast. I just love a mason jar meal.

That looks really delicious — great photography. 😉
I often make something like this before bed for an alternative to a protein shake in the morning. 😁
Can this be heated in the microwave after taking out of the fridge?
