Are Chocolate Overnight Oats healthy?
Yes, these overnight oats are definitely healthy! Although I am not a nutritionist or registered dietitian, so do not take my words for absolute truth, I do believe that oatmeal is always a healthy breakfast option.
Chocolate Overnight Oats are packed with protein, healthy fats, and complex carbs. The oats themselves are also loaded with nutrients. They are whole grain and a great source of vitamins, minerals, & fiber. This oatmeal will also keep you full for hours!
Plus you get all these benefits in the form of a truly delicious morning meal. One that is loaded with chocolatey goodness too!
Ingredients needed for this Chocolate Overnight Oats Recipe…
All you need to make this easy breakfast recipe is less than 10 very simple ingredients! They’re all healthy, wholesome, and gluten free too.
- Greek Yogurt: The base of this overnight oats recipe is greek yogurt. It adds a nice boost of protein and truly makes the creamiest oats. You will need 1 cup!
- Almond Butter: Almond butter helps makes these oats extra filling and super creamy too. Add 1/4 cup.
- Pure Maple Syrup: Pure maple syrup is absolutely one of my favorite refined sugar free sweeteners. It add such a rich & delicious flavor to any recipe! These oats call for 1/4 cup.
- Almond Milk: The liquid used in these Chocolate Overnight Oats is almond milk, but you could really use any milk you’d like. You will need 1 1/2 cups!
- Vanilla Extract: 1 tsp of vanilla extract gives these oats the best flavor!
- Oats: I used old fashioned oats in this recipe, but I’m sure any type of oats would work. Add 2 cups!
- Cocoa Powder: Cocoa powder of course gives these chocolate oats their extra delicious chocolate flavor. 2 tbsp is perfect.
- Chocolate Chips: Who doesn’t want chocolate chips in their morning oats? I know I do! Add 1/4 cup or however much you’d like.
- Salt: Lastly, a pinch of salt helps to bring out all the flavors in these easy oats.
How to make Easy Overnight Oats…
Chocolate Overnight Oats are super quick & easy to make! All you need is 10 minutes to mix the ingredients together and then place in the fridge overnight. Or for at least a few hours!
- In a large mixing bowl add the greek yogurt, almond butter, pure maple syrup, almond milk, and vanilla. Combine evenly.
- Next add in the oats, cocoa powder, and a pinch of salt.
- Stir in the chocolate chips.
- Transfer the oats to a container, cover, and place in the fridge overnight or for at least a few hours.
- In the morning add a serving to a bowl and top with nut butter, fruit, and a drizzle of honey.
- Enjoy!

This Chocolate Overnight Oats Recipe is the perfect breakfast recipe to meal prep! Simply prepare the oats in the beginning of the week and keep in the fridge. You’ll have an easy, healthy, and satisfying breakfast ready to go for most of the week.
You can stop there, keeping your oats in a large container … or you could separate into jars. I love doing this, it’s cute and of course functional too! Plus it makes the recipe even more grab & go.

How to best enjoy Chocolate Chip Overnight Oats…
You can of course enjoy these oats as is, but I love to jazz them up a bit!
I recommend topping with the fresh fruit of your choice, nut butter, and some extra sweetness. I personally love banana and raspberries, almond butter, and a drizzle of honey! And extra chocolate chips of course.
Storing this Healthy Breakfast Recipe…
You can store these Chocolate Overnight Oats in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They will last for about 1 week!

- 1 cup greek yogurt
- 1/4 cup almond butter, unsalted
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
- 1 1/2 cup almond milk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 cups oats
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips
- pinch of salt
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl add the greek yogurt, almond butter, pure maple syrup, almond milk, and vanilla. Combine evenly.
- Next add in the oats, cocoa powder, and a pinch of salt.
