Ingredients
Chocolate berry bark is made with such simple ingredients – only 4 in total! They make for an easy, no-bake, and healthy chocolate treat.
Ingredient Notes
- Dark Chocolate: Dark chocolate is the base of this simple recipe! I like to use high quality dark chocolate chips – like Guittard or Ghiradelli. They just melt so smoothly and taste so rich! You’ll need 1 cup.
- White Chocolate: White chocolate is the perfect addition to this delicious bark. It is sweet, rich, and buttery and compliments the dark chocolate wonderfully. All you need is 2 tbsp! I again recommend a high quality chip, Ghiradelli is the best I’ve tried.
- Berries: You simply cannot have a chocolate berry bark without berries! They add such a fabulous freshness and tartness to this treat. Add 1 cup of your favorites.
- Refined Coconut Oil: Coconut oil is a super important ingredient here! It helps make the chocolate spreadable and drizzle-able. You’ll need 1 tbsp and 1/2 tsp. Make sure to use refined coconut oil, as unrefined or virgin will taste like coconuts.
Substitutions & Additions
This bark is actually quite customizable! There are many different ways you could change up or add to this base recipe.
Chocolate: You could really use any combination of chocolate you’d like here! Feel free to swap in semi-sweet or milk chocolate for either of the two used here.
Coconut Oil: I love to use coconut oil here, but another neutral tasting oil could also work. Perhaps vegetable oil!
Berries: Now this is the fun part! I went with a simple berry topping for this recipe, but you could truly add anything you’d like instead. Or in addition to the berries! Perhaps coconut flakes, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, dried fruit, peanut butter, or even candy.

This homemade chocolate bark is such an easy recipe to make! All you have to do is melt, spread, top, and chill. That’s it!
Then you’ll have a delicious treat to enjoy whenever your sweet tooth hits.
Step By Step Instructions
Step 1: First melt the dark chocolate chips and coconut oil (1 tbsp) in a double boiler over low heat or in the microwave until smooth. For the microwave, heat in 15 second intervals stirring between each one.
Step 2: Add the melted chocolate to a parchment paper lined cookie sheet. Spread thinly and evenly into a rectangle.
Step 3: Next sprinkle the fresh berries evenly on top of the dark chocolate. I like to chop / break up some of the berries.
Step 4: Then add the white chocolate chips and coconut oil (1/2 tsp) to a microwave-safe bowl. Place in the microwave and heat in 10 second intervals, stirring between each one, until smooth.
Step 5: Drizzle the melted white chocolate over the bark.
Step 6: Next place the dark chocolate bark in the refrigerator to set for at least 1 hour, or until the chocolate is completely hardened.
Step 7: Once the chocolate sets and hardens completely, break the bark into smaller pieces. You can do this with your hands or a sharp knife.
Step 8: Store the pieces in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Enjoy!
Expert Tips
Use the parchment paper! This recipe would be a chocolatey, sticky mess without it.
Spread the chocolate in a thin, even layer – but not too thin.
Add all the extra toppings you’d like! The world is truly your oyster here.
Do not skip the coconut oil. It is vital to this dark chocolate bark recipe!
Frequently Asked Questions
I am not a dietician or nutritionist, so do not take my word for absolute truth – but in my opinion dark chocolate is a fabulous option when you are looking for something good-for-you to cure that sweet tooth!
Studies have shown that it is high in antioxidants, heart-healthy, and can help reduce blood pressure. It is also oftentimes not loaded with the fat and sugars that other types of chocolate are.
This recipe can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will keep best for about 3-5 days!
