TikTok Viral Blended Baked Oats

Bended baked oats have been viral on TikTok for quite a while now! There are countless flavor variations that exist.

The concept behind the popular food trend is blending oatmeal ingredients together into a batter of sorts so that when baked the result is a nutritious breakfast with a cake-like texture.

It is pretty genius if you ask me! I have created quite a few variations myself over the years.

If you’re looking for a solid, base recipe to start your blended baked oats journey with … I recommend trying out my Baked Oats For One.

Now baked oats are not to be confused with baked oatmeal, where whole oats are used and no blending is involved. Baked oatmeal recipes also tend to have multiple servings, while baked oats are typically single serve.

Substitutions & Additions

There are a few substitutions and additions you could make to this chocolate oatmeal for it to meet your personal preferences, tastes, or needs!

Oats: I love to use old fashioned rolled oats in my oatmeal recipes, but quick cooking oats would work here too. Quick oats are simply a more processed version of rolled oats, but when the two are blended up into an oat flour like done here – they’re pretty much the same.

Milk: Any type of milk can be used in this recipe. You can use your favorite non-dairy milk – oat milk, soy milk, or coconut milk – in place of the almond milk. Regular dairy milk will work too!

Sweetener: Honey or agave nectar can replace the pure maple syrup in this healthy breakfast.

Chocolate Chips: I used dark chocolate chips in this recipe for rich and delicious double chocolate oats, but any kind will do the trick. Like milk, semi-sweet, or white chocolate chips!

Mix-Ins: Feel free to add some extra ingredients to this baked oat mixture. Like chopped nuts, shredded coconut, or fresh berries.

Expert Tips

Don’t over-blend the oats! I recommend blending the ingredients until just combined. This will leave your chocolate-baked oats lighter and fluffier. Over-blending will result in denser oats.

Grease the ramekin or baking dish with cooking spray. This makes clean up so much easier.

Add as many chocolate chips as you’d like. Because we all know … the more chocolate, the better!

Serve with a splash of milk or cream. I like to add a bit of extra moisture on top!

Serving Suggestions

The best way to enjoy this delicious chocolate breakfast is hot and fresh out of the oven with all your favorite toppings. Here are some ideas:

  • Sweetener – Drizzle of honey or maple syrup
  • Nuts
  • Fresh fruit – Berries, banana slices, cherries, etc.
  • Greek yogurt – For a protein boost
