Peanut Butter Crunch Cups

Last Updated on August 12, 2022 by Kayla Berman

My two favorite chocolate candies growing up were Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Crunch Bars. Ugh, and Bunch a Crunch from the movie theater! The best! You could say I have a thing for crunchy textured or peanut butter filled candy. I combined my two candy preferences, and childhood favorites, into one easy homemade chocolate candy … Peanut Butter Crunch Cups!

Peanut Butter Crunch Cups are a delicious cross between a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup and a Crunch Bar! Made with semi sweet chocolate, Rice Krispies Cereal, and creamy peanut butter … this 4 ingredient, no-bake recipe is perfect for Halloween. These easy, homemade treats will be a hit with any chocolate or candy lover out there!

Ingredients needed for Peanut Butter Crunch Cups!

Peanut Butter Crunch Cups call for only 4 simple ingredients! The result is perfectly poppable and peanut butter filled chocolate treats that take no time at all. They are a super low effort treat … which you gotta love!

  • Chocolate Chips: I love to use semi sweet mini chocolate chips in this homemade halloween candy recipe, but you can use any kind of chocolate you like. You’ll need 1 cup!
  • Rice Krispies Cereal: Rice Krispies gives these peanut butter crunch cups the best crunchy texture …. just like a classic crunch bar! Add 1 cup.
  • Peanut Butter: For the filling of these chocolate treats you will need about 1 tsp of peanut butter per cup or for easier measurement about 1/4 cup!
  • Refined Coconut Oil: I melt down the chocolate in this recipe with a touch of refined coconut oil! This makes the chocolate smoother, thinner, and easier to work with. Use 1 tsp! You could also swap the coconut oil with a different oil of your choice.

Kitchen tools needed for Homemade Halloween Candy…

You do not need much in the way of kitchen tools for this simple, no-bake recipe! But you do need one very important one … a mini muffin tin.

A mini muffin tin is what gives these cute chocolate treats their shape and size. I just used a classic muffin tin, but you could use a rubber or silicon one like this to make your life even easier. The Homemade Peanut Butter Cups would just pop right out!

Other tools you’ll need!

  • Rubber spatula
  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups / spoons

How to make Homemade Peanut Butter Cups…

These treats are as simple as can be! They are no-bake and only require some mixing and freezing to make.

  1. Start by melting the chocolate chips and coconut oil in a double boiler over low heat or in the microwave.  For the microwave, heat in 15 second intervals stirring in between each one.
  2. Once the chocolate has melted, transfer it to a mixing bowl and add in the cereal. Combine.
  3. Grab a mini muffin tin and add small spoonfuls of the chocolate mixture to each cup.  You’ll want to use half the mixture.
  4. Next add about 1 tsp of peanut butter on top of the first chocolate layer. Try to keep the peanut butter in the center.
  5. Then add another spoonful of the chocolate cereal mixture to each treat. Spread out the mixture as best as you can in order to cover the peanut butter.
  6. Place in the freezer for about 30 minutes to set.
  7. Enjoy!

I buy the Enjoy Life brand and can usually find them in any grocery store! Either in the regular baking section or in the more health foods section. You can definitely find them at Whole Foods though!
