Ingredients needed for Healthy French Onion Dip…

You’ll only need a few simple ingredients to make homemade Healthy French Onion Dip!

  • Onions: This Healthy French Onion Dip is made with homemade caramelized onions! You will need 3 large sweet onions sliced very thinly.
  • Whipped Cream Cheese: Whipped cream cheese is the base of this dip. It adds great flavor and creates such a creamy dip. Add 1 cup!
  • Greek Yogurt: This dip is also made with plain greek yogurt. Greek yogurt is a healthier alternative to sour cream that still provides that tangy taste. 1/2 cup is the perfect amount!
  • Worcestershire Sauce: 1 tsp of Worcestershire sauce adds a strong savory, umami flavor to this dip.
  • Butter & Olive Oil: You will need 1 tbsp each of butter and olive oil to caramelize the onions in this recipe.
  • Garlic: 3 cloves of garlic adds more delicious flavor.
  • Salt & Pepper: Add salt & pepper to taste in this recipe. I recommend a generous amount!
  • Fresh Chives: Fresh chives are optional, but they add some freshness and a beautiful look. So good!

Caramelizing onion tips…

Follow the tips below for perfect caramelized onions each and every time!

  • Low & slow: Use a low heat and take your time to caramelize the onions. It should take 30-40 minutes!
  • Slice thinly: Make sure to slice you onions very thinly, you don’t want to get a scoop of dip with large onion chunks.
  • Use butter & olive oil: I love the flavor that using the two combined gives, it’s so rich & delicious!
  • Add water if needed: If your onions start to stick or look like their burning a bit add in some water. This helps them cook and also deglazes the pan to get all the delicious flavors!
  • Watch for burning: Keep a close eye on your onions and stir often to ensure they do not burn.
  • Salt & pepper: Add salt and pepper throughout the process for lots of flavor!
