Pesto Flatbread Pizzas are made with naan flatbread, fresh mozzarella cheese, colorful grape tomatoes, balsamic glaze, and fresh basil! They’re crispy, cheesy, flavorful, and satisfying. These quick and easy homemade flatbreads are a great weeknight meal or appetizer recipe. They take no time at all and will be a hit with everyone!

Easy, Cheesy Pesto Flatbread Pizza

Give me pizza and pasta everyday for the rest of my life and I will be a happy girl. What can I say? Anything carb-filled and cheesy just makes me happy.

Especially if I can make it in my own kitchen and have it on my plate in under 30 minutes. Pesto flatbread pizza is just that!

It’s made with naan, basil pesto, fresh mozzarella cheese, colorful tomatoes, and so much more. It is cheesy, flavorful, vegetarian, and bound to be your new go-to recipe.

These pizzas works fabulously as a main dish for an easy weeknight meal or an appetizer recipe too. Either way they are sure to be a fan favorite and crowd pleaser!

Ingredients

This homemade flatbread pizza recipe calls for only a few delicious and simple ingredients! You’ll need lots of cheese, basil pesto, fresh tomatoes, and more great flavors.

Ingredient Notes

  • Naan Flatbread: Store-bought naan flatbread is used as the base or “pizza crust” of these pesto pizzas … the dough if you will! You could use a plain flatbread or even a garlic flavored one. You will need 2! Here are the ones I used, but you should be able to find some in your local grocery store.
  • Pesto: Pesto sauce is of course the sauce on these flatbreads. Use 1/4 cup of your favorite one! Or even use a homemade pesto sauce.
  • Mozzarella Cheese: The most important part of any pizza … cheese! You will need 8 oz of fresh mozzarella cheese. Or however much your heart desires!
  • Tomatoes: Grape tomatoes add a delicious taste and beautiful look to this easy recipe. Use 1 cup of sliced tomatoes. You could also use cherry tomatoes!
  • Olive Oil: Drizzle these flatbreads with a drizzle of olive oil. You’ll need about 2 tbsp!
  • Balsamic Glaze: Balsamic glaze adds so much delicious flavor here. Drizzle as much as you’d like!
  • Seasonings: Add garlic powder, oregano, and black pepper to your flatbreads. Again, however much you like!
  • Fresh Basil: Fresh basil is the perfect final touch and garnish to these pizzas, but is totally optional.

How To Make This Recipe

This pesto flatbread takes less than 30 minutes to make in your own kitchen, but tastes like it comes straight from a restaurant. Truly the perfect easy weeknight dinner!

Step By Step Instructions

Step 1: Set the oven to 400 degrees.

Step 2: Add the naan flatbreads to a prepared baking sheet.

Step 3: Divide and spread pesto evenly between each naan flatbread.  Add the mozzarella cheese and tomatoes.

Step 4: Drizzle the flatbreads with the olive oil.  Sprinkle your desired amount of garlic powder, oregano, and pepper.

Step 5: Bake for 15 minutes.

Step 6: Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.  Top with a drizzle of balsamic glaze and fresh basil.

Step 7: Enjoy!

Customizations

This easy dinner or appetizer recipe is super customizable too! You can add or takeaway ingredients to meet your personal preferences, tastes, or needs.

Sauce: You could swap the pesto in this pizza with any sauce of your choice! Like marinara, vodka, or even Alfredo.

Veggies: Adding some extra veggies to this recipe would be a great way to up the flavor and the health factor. Try red onion, mushrooms, bell pepper, fresh garlic, spinach, fresh arugula, sun-dried tomatoes, or even caramelized onions!

Protein: This recipe is currently vegetarian, but protein would be a delicious addition. Perhaps grilled chicken, prosciutto, pepperoni, or meatballs.

Cheese: Fresh mozzarella cheese is incredible here, but you could easily replace with or add shredded mozzarella or parmesan cheese. Feta could be great too!

Spice: Try spicing up this recipe with red pepper flakes or a drizzle of hot sauce.

Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor!

This recipe does not include specific measurements for a few elements – the balsamic glaze, garlic powder, oregano, etc. I highly recommend just adding to your own preference and taste!

Allow the flatbread to cool thoroughly before cutting into. The cheese will be quite melty and bubbly, so might fall apart if you cut right away!

Line the sheet pan with parchment paper for easy removal and minimal mess and clean up.

For a crispy bottomed pizza, bake the flatbread straight on the oven rack!

How to best store this recipe?

If you have any pesto flatbread leftovers, although I doubt you will, simply store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They will keep for about 3-5 days!

How to re-heat this recipe?

To re-heat his recipe, pop in the microwave for 30-60 seconds. You could also pop back into the oven.
