Ingredients needed for Apple Pie Granola…

Apple Pie Granola calls for all healthy, wholesome, and simple ingredients! It uses all your favorite fall flavors too. They make this granola vegan, dairy free, and even gluten free if you use certified gluten free oats.

  • Oats: The base of this homemade granola is old fashioned oats. You’ll need 2 cups!
  • Apple: My favorite part of this apple pie granola is that it has real apple chunks in it! They help to truly deliver that apple pie tase. 1 apple is all you need. I recommend Honeycrisp!
  • Coconut Oil: Refined coconut oil is used in this recipe to get the granola crispy & crunchy. Make sure to use refined coconut oil as unrefined or virgin tastes like coconuts and will make your granola taste like that too! Add 1/4 cup.
  • Maple Syrup: Pure maple syrup is the main source of sweetness in this recipe. It is a rich & delicious refined sugar free option! 1/4 cup is the perfect amount.
  • Brown Sugar: Sprinkle a little bit of brown sugar, 1 tbsp to be exact, on top of this granola!
  • Cinnamon: This cinnamon apple granola of course calls for lots of cinnamon to really get that warm fall flavor. Add 2 tsp plus a little extra!
  • Vanilla Extract: Add 1 tsp of vanilla extract for a little extra flavor.
  • Salt: Lastly, a pinch of salt is added to balance out the sweet & bring out the delicious flavors here! 1/8 tsp is perfect.

How to make homemade granola…

Making homemade granola is a lot easier than it may seem! You pretty much mix, spread, bake, and then enjoy. Trust me … after you try it once, you’ll never go back to the store bought stuff!

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Set the oven to 325 degrees.
  2. Next slice the apple very thinly and spread in one layer on a parchment paper lined baking tray.  Pat with a paper towel to remove some of the liquid.  Bake for 10 minutes.
  3. Flip the apple slices, pat with a paper towel again, and bake for another 10 minutes.
  4. Then on the stove over low heat combine the coconut oil, maple syrup, vanilla, and cinnamon until completely melted.
  5. Next chop up the cooked apple slices.  Add the chopped apple to a large mixing bowl along with the oats and salt.
  6. Pour the liquid mixture on top and mix thoroughly.  Ensure all the oats and apples are coated.
  7. Next spread the granola mixture as thin as possible on a parchment paper lined baking tray.  The thinner you spread, the crunchier your granola will be.
  8. Sprinkle the brown sugar and extra cinnamon on top.
  9. Bake for 20 minutes.
  10. Remove from the oven and let cool completely before touching it.  Once cooled break up the granola into clusters.
  11. Enjoy!

Cinnamon Apple Pie Granola tips…

Follow the tips below for the perfect Cinnamon Apple Pie Granola each and every time!

  • Spread super thin! This ensures that each piece or cluster of granola gets super crispy and crunchy.
  • Let cool completely! This step might just be the most crucial part of making homemade granola. This granola obviously comes out of the oven warm and you need to let it cool entirely before you touch it. This once again allows the granola to crisp up perfectly.
  • Melt the liquid mixture! Melting the coconut oil, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and cinnamon together may seem like an unnecessary extra step but it is actually very necessary. I have tried to make granola without melting the liquid ingredients together and it simply does not come out as good.
  • Bake the apple slices! Again, this may seem like an unnecessary step but it is not. If you do not bake your apple slices first they will be soggy and will also make the rest of the granola soggy.

How do I best enjoy Cinnamon Apple Granola?

Enjoy this Cinnamon Apple Pie Granola just as you would enjoy any other granola.

Add to a yogurt bowl, smoothie, or enjoy by the handful. By the handful is honestly my favorite! I find myself grabbing some every time I walk into the kitchen. But anyway you enjoy, this granola is sure to be absolutely delicious!

Can I add any mix-ins to this Apple Granola?

Totally! Here are a few mix-ins that would be delicious:

  • Nuts
  • Shredded coconut
  • Chocolate chips
  • Peanut butter or caramel drizzle

However, if you’re adding a bunch more ingredients you may want to up the coconut oil and maple syrup amounts. You’ll want to have enough liquid mixture to ensure that the dry ingredients are still thoroughly coated!

How to store this homemade granola recipe…

Store this container in an airtight container on the counter at room temperature! I love to store in a recycled jar, its super cute and makes for easy serving & pouring.

This granola will last for about 1-2weeks!
