One of the ultimate easy dinners is of course burgers! I am personally a big fan of them in any shape and size. Beef, turkey, chicken, hamburger bun, lettuce wrap … you name it and I am down. And all the variations are great for different occasions!
Air Fryer Chicken Burgers are the perfect burger variety for a busy weeknight. They are easy to make, super simple, a healthier choice, and can be ready in about 30 minutes. Plus they’re of course delicious!
You can serve these juicy patties on their own with some vegetables for a healthy meal or on a bun with french fries for a slightly more indulgent option. They’re great for kids, adults, or the whole family!

Ingredients
These juicy burgers are made with only 7 simple ingredients! It’s truly all you need for a flavorful & healthier burger option.
Ingredient Notes
- Ground Chicken: Ground chicken meat is the base of these burgers. You will need 1 lb!
- Onion & Garlic: Onion and garlic add both delicious fresh flavor here, but also extra moisture! Add 1/2 an onion and 3 garlic cloves.
- Mozzarella Cheese: Chicken burgers call for 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese. This again helps keep this recipe incredibly moist!
- Parsley: I love the flavor parsley add here. 1 tsp is all you need!
- Salt & Pepper: Lastly add 1/2 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp black pepper to these air fryer chicken patties. Or however much you’d like!
Substitutions & Additions
There are a few basic substitutions or additions that can be made to this recipe to meet your dietary needs or preferences. Here are my ideas! Be careful to not change too much though, because you may get different results.
Chicken: The ground chicken can be replaced with ground turkey for an air fryer turkey burger variation.
Cheese: Mozzarella was my cheese of choice in this recipe, but you could swap this with pretty much any melting cheese. Like cheddar or even American!
Onion & Garlic: Fresh onion and garlic are used here. It provides the best flavor and helps keep the burgers moist. But if you don’t have either on hand, you could always switch with onion powder and garlic powder.
Fresh Herbs / Seasonings: The seasonings are kept pretty simple in this easy dinner recipe. Just some salt, pepper, and dried parsley! You could add in more spices or fresh herbs for even more delicious flavor.
What makes these burgers juicy?
These burgers are truly the perfect chicken burger! They are super easy to make and insanely juicy. Air frying is not the traditional burger cooking method, but it is a great alternative and is quite incredible.
It cooks the ground chicken patties quickly, without making them dry. Plus the cheese and onion help to keep the burgers extra moist and juicy!
The air frying gets them perfectly crispy on the outside too. It’s the best of both worlds!
While a typical chicken burger may be thought of as dry and lacking in flavor, these air fried ones are anything but!
How To Make This Recipe
This recipe is incredibly easy! It is perfect for a busy weeknight dinner when you don’t feel like messing up the stove or oven. And definitely not the outdoor grill!
All you do is mix up the ingredients, form into patties, and place in the air fryer to cook to perfection.
Step By Step Instructions
Step 1: Add the ground chicken, onion, garlic, mozzarella cheese, parsley, salt, and pepper to a large bowl. Combine thoroughly.
Step 2: Then divide the chicken mixture into 4. Roll each quarter into a ball and flatten into patties. I like to place them on a parchment paper lined plate or tray.
Step 3: Next pre-heat the air fryer to 370 degrees F. While the air fryer is preheating, you can place your chicken patties in the fridge. Once preheated, remove from the fridge, and place in the air fryer basket or tray in single layer. Air fry for 15 minutes.
Step 4: Serve & enjoy! (I recommend hamburger buns, lettuce, tomato, onion, and burger sauce.)
Expert Tips
Cook the burgers two at a time in the air fryer basket. Overcrowding will prevent the burgers from cooking evenly!
Grease the air fryer with cooking spray to prevent any sticking!
Place the chicken burger patties in the refrigerator while the air fryer is preheating. This will help them keep their shape and be easier to handle.
Chop the onion and garlic very finely. This helps them cook thoroughly and also prevents you from getting a big mouthful of onion!

You can easily make this recipe ahead of time as a sort of meal prep!
Simply prepare and cook as instructed and then store in the refrigerator throughout the week or until you are ready to eat them. Then pop in the microwave to reheat!
I recommend air frying raw ground chicken burgers for 15 minutes for the best results.
This will cook them completely through, but you can also use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature has reached 165 degrees.
I recommend cooking chicken burgers at 370 degrees in the air fryer. This crisps them up, while not drying them out!
You can serve this delicious chicken burger recipe however you like to enjoy burgers! I personally like to enjoy them on a toasted bun with all the burger fixings. I love brioche buns specifically!
My favorite toppings are ketchup, mayo, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and an extra slice of cheese.

Unfortunately your instructions are all mixed up!
Hi Lindz, what do you mean all mixed up?
Step 2 is incomplete so I think that’s what Lindz was referring to. It’s pretty clear by the instructions in step 3 that step 2 requires dividing the mixture into 4 sections. A little common sense is all that was required. I am looking forward to trying this recipe.
Disagree with the comment of step 2 not being clear. It’s extremely clear as what to do. Just did it in literally 10 to 15 mins easy.
