Salmon is one of my favorite seafood options whether I’m at home or out at a restaurant. I just love it! I kind of think you can never go wrong with the fatty fish.

Especially when it is in a sweet, savory, saucy, and sticky glaze! Ugh, there’s nothing better. Except perhaps if the salmon is prepared in poppable, bite-sized pieces.

Well Honey Garlic Salmon Bites have it all! Made with cubed salmon, honey, fresh garlic, butter, and soy sauce … these delicious salmon bites are tender, flakey, and flavorful.

Plus they only require a few ingredients and 20 minutes of your time!

Substitutions & Additions

There are a few substitutions and additions you could make to this recipe for it to meet your personal preferences, tastes, or needs!

Salmon: I use fresh salmon for this recipe, but I think frozen salmon would absolutely work as well. Just check out my Frequently Asked Questions section for more information on how to do so!

Butter: You could replace the butter here with an oil if you would like. Olive oil or sesame oil would both be great! Sesame oil would give this dish a more Asian inspired flavor too.

Honey: Any sweetener could be swapped in for honey. Perhaps brown sugar or pure maple syrup!

Soy Sauce: If you need a gluten free or soy free alternative to soy sauce, Tamari and coconut aminos are both a great option.

Expert Tips

Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel to get rid of any excess moisture before cutting and combining with the sauce!

Make sure to use fresh garlic for the best flavor.

Spice it up! If you like heat – add some hot sauce, cayenne pepper, or red pepper flakes to the marinade. You could also use hot honey instead of regular honey.

Use leftover honey garlic sauce as a drizzle or dipping sauce for the cooked salmon!

Spread the salmon bites out in an even layer on the baking sheet for the best results.

Let the salmon chunks marinate in the glaze ingredients if you have the time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is salmon healthy?

I am not a dietician or nutritionist, but in my opinion … yes salmon is very healthy for you.

Salmon is a great source of protein, is full of omega-3 fatty acids, and is high in B vitamins. It is loaded with nutrients and may reduce the risk of certain diseases.

It is considered to be one of the most nutritious foods out there!

Should I remove the salmon skin?

I personally remove the salmon skin or at least most of it for this recipe! However, it is totally okay to keep the skin on if you would like. The skin is actually one of the more nutritious parts of the fish.

If you prefer the skin off, you could purchase skinless salmon fillets at your grocery store or market.

Can I use frozen salmon fillets?

Yes, totally! I did use a fresh salmon fillet here, but frozen should work perfectly fine as well.

If using frozen salmon, I recommend thawing in the refrigerator overnight to be ready to go the next day.

What size should the little salmon bites be?

The salmon bites should be about 1 inch in size. However, you don’t need to get super specific or exact here!

Small, bite-sized salmon nuggets will do the trick.

How to serve this recipe?

This recipe can be served in so many different ways!

My personal favorite way is with some brown or jasmine rice and green veggies. I also love to add some green onions and sesame seeds on top for extra flavor and a beautiful look.

You could also serve these tender salmon bites with cauliflower rice or a fresh salad for a lower carb option.

How to best store this recipe?

You can store leftover salmon in an airtight container. It will keep best for 2-3 days!

How to re-heat these salmon bites?

You can reheat these bites in multiple ways!

I honestly prefer the microwave, which I know may seem crazy for seafood, but it works perfectly fine here and is the easiest way.

You could also place the salmon bites back in the back oven at about 250-300 degrees F until heated through.
