Ingredients needed for Healthy Banana Bread Cookies…

Banana Bread Cookies call for all simple & healthy ingredients! They make these cookies absolutely perfect for breakfast, a snack, or dessert.

  • Banana: These cookies call for 1 ripe banana! It helps give them a delicious natural sweetness.
  • Light Brown Sugar: The rest of the sweetness here comes from light brown sugar. It’s rich flavor makes it my favorite sugar to use in cookies! You’ll need 1/2 cup.
  • Vanilla Extract: 1 tsp of vanilla extract gives Banana Bread Cookies that classic vanilla taste.
  • Coconut Oil: This easy treat calls for 1/4 cup melted refined coconut oil. It replaces butter and makes these cookies dairy free! Make sure to use refined.
  • Egg: 1 egg is needed for extra moisture and binding here.
  • Flours: These banana chocolate chip cookies use two types of flour … 1/4 cup whole wheat and 1/2 cup all purpose. The combination adds a little extra health, but also keeps the cookies soft & fluffy.
  • Chocolate Chips: Add 1/3 cup semi sweet chocolate chips here! Or measure with your heart.
  • Baking Powder: All you need is 1/4 tsp of baking powder to bake these cookies to perfection.
  • Salt: Lastly, add 1/8 tsp of salt!

What to do if I don’t have any ripe bananas?

We have all been there … you want to bake up some delicious banana bread or banana bread cookies in this case, but your bananas are green with no spots in sight. Do not worry, I have a solution for you!

Simply place your unpeeled banana on a baking tray and bake at 300 degrees for 10-15 minutes. Bake until the banana is dark brownish black! Then remove from the oven, scoop out the banana into your bowl, and mash as you always would. So easy!

Banana Chocolate Chip Cookies

Yes! Chilling this cookie dough is definitely necessary. It is required for the cookies to bake as intended, but it also makes handling the dough much easier.

This recipe says to chill the dough for 2 hours, but you could also chill overnight to have the cookies ready to go as soon as you want to bake them. Simply prepare the dough, cover, and place in the fridge. Then remove from the fridge when it’s time to bake, let it sit for a few minutes, and bake the cookies as instructed!

Follow the tips below for the perfect Banana Bread Cookies each & every time!

  • Wet your hands: Even after chilling, this cookie dough will be will be quite sticky! I recommend wetting your hands slightly when rolling the balls. It’s the best way I have found to prevent the sticking!
  • Flatten the cookies: Flattening the cookie dough balls with your fingers before baking really helps these cookies develop the classic cookie shape.
  • Extra chocolate: Dot banana bread cookies with extra chocolate chips before baking. Because the more the merrier is always true when it comes to chocolate!
  • Chill your dough: I’m just going to emphasize this again … you must chill this cookie dough for the instructed time!
