Classic Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

Last Updated on April 28, 2020 by Kayla Berman

One of my all time favorite sweet treats is banana bread! I have tried and tried to create a perfect recipe, but have never quite managed to do it. But I think that I have finally, no i definitely, nailed it with this Classic Chocolate Chip Banana Bread. It is perfectly fluffy, perfectly sweet, and perfectly chocolatey. Plus it tastes like the classic real deal, but is dairy, refined sugar, and oil free!

If the fact that half of this banana bread was gone before I managed to snag some photos, doesn’t tell you how delicious it is … i don’t know what will!

What you need for this Classic Chocolate Chip Banana Bread!

  • bananas
  • eggs
  • cashew butter
  • vanilla extract
  • cinnamon
  • coconut sugar
  • whole wheat pastry flour
  • baking powder
  • dairy free chocolate chips

The main ingredient in this banana bread is pretty obvious, bananas! Make sure to use very ripe and spotty bananas for the sweetest and best flavor bread. Next up, I used cashew butter in place of traditional butter. I’m sure, although I haven’t tested, that any other creamy nut butter would work in it’s place. But i will say that I love cashew butter in this recipe because it provides the most neutral flavor, which was exactly what I was looking for in this recipe to get that classic banana bread taste.

The bread get it’s flavor from vanilla extract and cinnamon and it’s sweetness from coconut sugar. Coconut sugar is my favorite sugar to bake with and it makes this recipe refined sugar free! Whole wheat pastry flour is also used in this recipe, another of my baking favorites. I like using whole wheat pastry flour for the extra nutritional boost and because it makes a lighter and softer baked good than traditional whole wheat flour. Lastly, but most definitely not least, you need lots of chocolate chips for this recipe! I used dairy free chocolate chips to keep the recipe dairy free, but you could use whatever is your favorite.
