Pumpkin Donuts with Cream Cheese Frosting

Last Updated on December 30, 2020 by Kayla Berman

I’m going to start this blog post off with some honesty. I fully intended for these Pumpkin Donuts with Cream Cheese Frosting to be cookies. I don’t know where I went wrong but the batter ended up being a batter and simply not a cookie dough. But I am SO freaking happy for my mistake!! Because they are absolutely delicious and everything I have ever hoped for in a fall sweet treat. These pumpkin donuts are incredibly fluffy and literally melt in your mouth. Plus they’ve got that perfect fall flavor and a maple cream cheese frosting that I could eat by the spoonful. I’m glad you all are here and checking out this recipe because you 100% need to make a batch. Or ten.

What you need for these Pumpkin Donuts with Cream Cheese Frosting!

These donuts are made with all wholesome & real ingredients! Plus they are completely gluten free.

  • Pumpkin: I use canned pumpkin for all my pumpkin goodies. This recipe doesn’t require a whole can, so you can store the rest in an airtight container in the fridge and use for another recipe!
  • Butter: Nothing like some good old classic butter. It gives these donuts a truly delicious flavor!
  • Egg: For binding and moisture!
  • Coconut Sugar: You all know that I love love love coconut sugar. In this recipe it is used in the donuts themselves! It is my favorite granulated sugar to use, completely refined sugar free and in my opinion tastes and feels similar to brown sugar.
  • Pure Maple Syrup: My other favorite refined sugar free sweetener! I used this in place of the tons of powdered sugar that is typically in cream cheese frosting.
  • Almond Flour & Oat Flour: I absolutely love the combination of these two flours in a baked good. It provides the best fluffy texture! Almond flour I buy in bulk and oat flour I make at home by just blending up some oats. It is so easy!
  • Whipped Cream Cheese: I think using whipped cream cheese creates such a smooth frosting, with a perfect texture!
  • Cinnamon, Vanilla Extract & Salt for some delicious flavor and Baking Soda for a little rise and that perfect texture.
