Easy & Healthy Brownies

An easy and healthier take on the classic dessert!  These brownies are made with coconut sugar, maple syrup, whole wheat pastry flour, almond butter, and more wholesome ingredients.  Can be made dairy free and are refined-sugar free!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup coconut sugar
  • 1/2 cup almond butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened apple sauce
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat pastry flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 3 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Set oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Combine almond butter, coconut sugar, eggs, applesauce, maple syrup, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Add in the dry ingredients; whole wheat pastry flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder.
  4. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  5. Pour batter into a greased or parchment paper lined baking pan.
  6. Top with more chocolate chips. (optional but highly recommended!)
  7. Bake for 12-13 minutes.
  8. Remove from oven, let cool, cut into squares, and enjoy!

Notes

  • I used milk chocolate chips in this recipe, which I think helped to make the brownies decadent and delicious. But you can swap the milk chocolate chips with dairy free chocolate chips for a completely dairy free recipe!
