Ingredients needed for Oven Baked Chicken Nuggets…

Baked Chicken Nuggets call for only a few simple ingredients! They’re all you need for easy and tasty homemade nuggets.

  • Chicken Tenderloins: Chicken tenderloins are used for these chicken nuggets. I find it so easy to just chop them right up into bite sized nuggets. You’ll need 1 lb!
  • Panko Breadcrumbs: I absolutely love Panko breadcrumbs. They are just the best for ultimate crispiness! 1 1/2 cups is the perfect amount.
  • Parmesan Cheese: I am a firm believer that parmesan cheese is delicious in almost each and every food. So of course I added them to these nuggets! Add 1/4 cup to the breading mixture.
  • Flour: All purpose flour is used here to bread the chicken. 1/2 cup is all you need!
  • Eggs: 2 eggs are also used in the breading process.
  • Garlic Powder: Garlic powder is added to the breadcrumbs here to up the flavor. 1 tsp is so yum!
  • Salt & Pepper: Lastly, add 1 tsp of both salt and pepper to the bread crumbs! Simple seasonings are so so key in this recipe.

How to make this easy recipe…

Oven Baked Chicken Nuggets are super easy to make. You simply prepare the chicken tenders, bread them, and then bake!

  1. Start by cleaning and preparing your chicken tenderloins.  Then cut into bite sized chunks.
  2. Next combine the Panko breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl.  In another bowl add and whisk the eggs.  Lastly, add the flour to another bowl.
  3. Then bread your chicken nuggets.  First coat each nugget in the flour, then coat in the egg, and lastly coat in the breadcrumbs.  Make sure each layer and coating is done thoroughly.  I also recommend dripping off any excess egg or flour before moving to the next step.
  4. Next add the breaded nuggets to a greased baking tray in one flat layer.  Spray or drizzle with olive oil.
  5. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 minutes.  Flip the nuggets and bake for another 8 minutes.  Then broil for 3-5 minutes at the end to crisp them up.  Watch carefully to not burn!
  6. Enjoy!

Chicken tenderloin fork hack…

I came across this trick for removing tendons from chicken tenderloins a few years ago and have never looked back! I don’t know about you guys, but one of my least favorite tasks in all of cooking is cleaning and preparing chicken. So any tricks to make this an easier, cleaner, and overall nicer experience are key for me!

Here’s the hack:

  1. Grab the chicken tendon with a paper towel. This allows for a good grip and prevents the tendon from slipping.
  2. Then grab a fork. Place it so that fork is between the tenderloin and your hand, with the tendon between two of the prongs.
  3. Then pull on the tendon. It should come out cleanly and easily.

There are a bunch of videos online of this, so if you need even more help check those out!

Homemade Chicken Nugget tips…

Follow the tips below for the best Homemade Baked Chicken Nuggets each and every time!

  • Season to your liking: The seasoning added to the breading in this recipe is delicious, but pretty simple. If you want to up the flavor try adding onion powder, paprika, Italian seasoning … or anything you’d like!
  • Flip & broil: Flipping and broiling these nuggets are key to crisping them up. Flipping them halfway through allows both sides to get even cooking, but broiling is really how you’ll get that beautiful golden brown look and crunchy outside. Make sure to keep an eye on the nuggets while broiling, they could burn quickly!
  • Easy & clean breading: My number one tip for breading your nuggets is to have a separate fork in each of the elements – egg, flour, and breadcrumbs mixture. This keeps the process super clean! You won’t get egg in your flour or crumbs in your egg!

How to serve chicken nuggets…

These Baked Chicken Nuggets are best served hot, crispy, and fresh out of the oven! Dip in ketchup, honey mustard, or barbecue sauce for the classic nugget experience.

For a more well rounded meal, you could pair with the carb of your choice and a side of veggies. Or for kids, these homemade chicken nuggets would be delicious with mac & cheese! Because let’s be honest mac & cheese and chicken nuggets are pretty much the most classic and nostalgic combo out there.

Storing & re-heating Baked Chicken Nuggets…

Store these chicken nuggets in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They will keep for about 1 week!

To reheat you can simply pop in the microwave for 30-60 seconds. However, this method does make the nuggets loose a lot of their crispiness. To keep things crispy, reheat in the oven!

  1. I made this and it was so easy, shame I didn’t have the right size tin, but I still made it work. Struggled to get it out like but I got there in the end too lol.

Any idea on how many calories 1slice contains?

  2. My family loved these nuggets. I doubled the batch and added them to their school lunches. It worked perfectly!
