You guys I am typing this post on December 1st … soo I think we all know what that means. It means it is officially the best time of the year … Christmas time !!! Its the season of cheerful lights, cozy hot cocoa, holiday candles, all the carols … and most importantly, especially if you are a food blogger like myself, the holiday treats. I am starting off my enjoyment of all the Christmas goodies with these White Chocolate Holiday Donuts. This recipe is basically a revamp of my Healthy Baked Donuts, but of course with a little holiday flare. That holiday flare comes in the form of a delicious white chocolate frosting and festive sprinkles.

What you need to make these White Chocolate Holiday Donuts!

Donuts

  • oat flour
  • almond flour
  • coconut sugar
  • almond milk
  • eggs
  • coconut oil
  • maple syrup
  • baking powder
  • vanilla

White Chocolate Frosting

  • white chocolate chips
  • almond milk
  • festive sprinkles

These have a very classic flavor which comes from the coconut sugar, maple syrup, and vanilla extract. The combination of the oat flour and almond flour also leads to a wonderful cakey texture. I have tried to make donuts with other flours and have so far found that these two are my flours of choice! The white chocolate frosting is simply white chocolate melted with some almond milk to form a sort of ganache. The addition of almond milk to the chocolate will give it more of a frosting consistency rather than a hard chocolate shell. Also, if you don’t like white chocolate you could easily swap it for regular chocolate. I happen to love white chocolate, so I find it delicious! I also think it makes it easier to see the sprinkles, which is what makes these donuts so festive!

How to make these White Chocolate Holiday Donuts!

  1. Set oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Combine oat flour, almond flour, and coconut sugar.
  3. Add in remaining ingredients and combine until a smooth batter forms.
  4. Grease a donut pan and fill each donut about 3/4 of the way.
  5. Bake for 10 minutes.
  6. Let cool and flip out of donut pan.  I actually kept them all face down, because the bottom will get golden brown and look more like a traditional donut.
  7. While the donuts are cooling, you can begin melting the white chocolate for the frosting. Combine the white chocolate chips and almond milk in a double boiler and melt until smooth. If the chocolate is too liquidy, you can add more chips and if it is too thick, add more almond milk.
  8. Pour the chocolate into a bowl that allows easy dipping. Dip the donuts into the white chocolate. I dipped the bottom side.
  9. Sprinkle with sprinkles.
  10. Enjoy!

These White Chocolate Holiday Donuts are what I think is the perfect healthier dessert! These donuts are much healthier than your typical fried donut, but they also don’t make any sacrifices in the flavor department. It is very important for me to make baked goods that are filled with mostly wholesome ingredients that I feel good about putting into my body, but also ones that taste good and that others will enjoy. This is especially true for my more desserty goods that are aimed to be crowd pleasers, like these festive donuts.
