Yes, the name of this recipe does contain the word apple twice. I feel like it is needed to really understand what this recipe is! Which is delicious apple crisp topping on each individual apple half, so Apple Crisp Baked Apples. This recipe is so so perfect for fall! It is a fun change up from the classic apple crisp with a little less work because you don’t have to peel or chop the apples! Plus the crisp topping is literally everything. Full of that warm cinnamon flavor, the perfect crisp & crunchy texture, and is made with butter so basically has to be delicious!! Top one of these apple halves with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and I can guarantee that you will pretty much be in fall dessert heaven.

What you need for these Apple Crisp Baked Apples!

These Apple Crisp Baked Apples are so so simple to make and only require a few ingredients! These apples are also gluten free. They could totally could be dairy free or vegan too if you use vegan butter or coconut oil in place of the butter.

  • Apples: I think this goes without saying but you of course need apples for this recipe! I went apple picking a few weeks ago and now have a surplus of apples so this is the perfect recipe to get through some.
  • Oats: Oats are used in this delicious crisp topping! I used old fashioned.
  • Almond Flour: Almond flour is also used in the crisp topping! The combination of oats and almond flour makes this recipe gluten free.
  • Butter: Gotta love butter! I simply think butter is necessary in all sorts of fruit crisps. You just can’t beat the classic flavor!
  • Cinnamon, Vanilla Extract, and Salt for all things flavor.
  • You will also need a little bit of Olive Oil Spray or regular olive oil.

How to make these Apple Crisp Baked Apples!

  1. Set the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Chop the apples in half and remove the core. Removing the core is a little difficult, but I found it most efficient to cut around the core with a knife and then pull it out with your fingers. Set aside.
  3. Combine the oats, almond flour, coconut sugar, cinnamon, and a sprinkle of salt.
  4. Then add in the melted butter and vanilla extract. Combine.
  5. Spray the open side of the apple halves with some olive oil spray or rub in olive oil. You could also use some melted butter here.
  6. Spread the crips topping mixture evenly over all the apple halves. Sprinkle with some extra cinnamon!
  7. Bake for 25 minutes.
  8. Remove from the oven and serve warm with some vanilla ice cream on top. Enjoy!!

What if I’m not serving these Apple Crisp Baked Apples right away?

That is totally fine! Since I am usually only baking for one person, besides when my roommates want some dessert, I never really serve right away. I stored these in an airtight container in the fridge and then just popped one in the microwave for about 1 minute whenever I wanted a treat! I would say these baked apples will last about a week in the fridge!
